Indonesian Government KNB Scholarships for the academic year 2024/2025 are now open for international students at all education levels, offering fully funded opportunities to study in Indonesia. The Kemitraan Negara Berkembang Scholarship, commonly known as the KNB Scholarship, is a financial support initiative by the Indonesian Government aimed at prospective international students from developing countries pursuing Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degrees at Indonesian universities.

Eligibility Criteria:

For Bachelor’s Degree Applicants:

  • Maximum age to apply is 21 years old.
  • Hold a High School degree (submit scanned degree certificate and academic transcripts in English or Bahasa).
  • English Proficiency Test Score requirements: TOEFL ITP of 477, TOEFL IBT of 53, IELTS of 5.5, TOEIC of 510.

For Masters Degree Applicants:

  • Maximum age to apply is 35 years old.
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree (submit scanned degree certificate and academic transcripts in English or Bahasa).
  • English Proficiency Test Score requirements: TOEFL ITP of 500, TOEFL IBT of 61, IELTS of 6.0, TOEIC of 575.

For Doctoral Degree Applicants:

  • Maximum age to apply is 40 years old.
  • Hold a Master’s degree (submit scanned degree certificate and academic transcripts in English or Bahasa).
  • Obtain a recommendation letter from the potential research supervisor at one of the partner universities of the KNB Scholarship.
  • Provide a statement of purpose in English or Bahasa outlining the purpose of their studies, origin of interest in studying in Indonesia, chosen research topic, and academic future plan (dissertation proposal).
  • English Proficiency Test Score requirements: TOEFL ITP of 530, TOEFL IBT of 71, IELTS of 6.0, TOEIC of 640.

General Requirements:

  • Provide a recommendation letter to apply for the KNB scholarship from the Indonesian Embassy or Consulate General.
  • Provide a recommendation letter to apply for the KNB scholarship from the employer/immediate supervisor in English or Bahasa (if working).
  • Provide Academic Recommendation Letter from previous schools in English or Bahasa.
  • Provide Academic Certificate and Academic Transcript of High School Degree in English or Bahasa.
  • Proof of citizenship by submitting an Official Passport valid for at least 2 years.

English Proficiency certificate must be obtained within the last 2 years. Participants from English-speaking countries or those enrolled in English programs (with official proof) are exempt from submitting the English proficiency document.

  • Submit the Offering Letter, Official Passport, English Proficiency Test (for non-English-speaking countries), Recommendation Letter from the Indonesian Embassy, Recommendation from Employer/Immediate Supervisor, Academic Recommendation Letter from Previous Schools, Academic Certificates and Academic Transcripts from Previous Degree, Recommendation Letter from the potential research supervisor (for Doctoral applicants only), and Statement of Purpose (for Doctoral applicants only) through the KNB Scholarship website.
